I’m an Nuyorican artist, writer, genealogist born in NY of Taino descent. I live in CA, and look forward to visiting PR again. I love photographic processes and collage & have been making art for over two decades.
The mundillistas of Moca meant spending time with women who were family, friends and teachers. Mundillo is the literal channeling of creative energy through thread. For many of my mother’s generation, needlework was among the few options for self expression. Also important are the efforts to plan and establish a museum, which is still in operation in Moca. I plan to publish a book with a brief bio and photographs of the lacemakers I met and interviewed.
I am the Co-founder and co-moderator of Sociedad Ancestros Mocanos on Yahoo Groups focused on preserving the genealogy and oral history of Moca and its surrounding areas. If you’re interested in joining, please drop me a line. Also check my Babilonia Family History & Fernandez Family History blogs on Blogspot.com.

Auralis,
Your best bet is to contact Don Benito ‘Mokay’ Hernandez Vale, Director of the Museo del Mundillo in Moca. I’ll send his direct number to you by email.
Saludos,
Ellen
